Free meditation class on Monday

Pam Butler wants to help others find inner peace.

The Fort Lauderdale resident found healing through meditation after months of suffering from posttraumatic stress disorder from a near death childbirth and the death of her father five days later. Now, the Chopra Certified Meditation Instructor wants to help others at the free "Mindful Monday Sundown Meditation" at Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort on Monday, September 26.

"Come with an open mind and an open heart," Butler says. "It's more just really taking the time to unplug and disconnect from our busy days. I teach very simple, very easy comfortable breathing techniques and tools that people can implement throughout the day."

Butler says no prior experience is needed at this all ages event.

The guided mediation will take place at BalQony, the Hilton's fourth floor terrace.

"[We are] constantly seeking new and innovative ways to implement [wellness] initiatives here," say John Allan, general manager, Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort. "Pam shares in our vision and commitment to encouraging others to lead healthier, more balanced lifestyles. We are excited to partner with her to host this unique popup
meditation at our resort."

Beverages will be available for purchase following the sunset meditation. The Banana Ginger Smoothie is supposed to promote good digestion and toxin removal while the Indulge World's Best Smoothie with nonfat yogurt, banana, orange juice, strawberries and elderflower liqueur should promote good mood and spirits. Two cocktails will also be available: A Berry Sangria for rejuvenation and the Tito's Sweet Green Tea to help lower
blood pressure. Each drink is $10.

Bitsy Bottom, an activewear line based out of Delray Beach, will showcase their fall clothing line while guests relish their refreshments. Proceeds from the popup's sales will benefit Broward's Children Center, a nonprofit in Pompano Beach helping infants through young adults with health care needs.

"Hopefully people will stay after to enjoy that sense of community and have conversations with like minded people," Butler says.

Mindful Monday Sundown Meditation will start 6:30 p.m. Monday, September 26, at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort, 505 N. Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd., Fort Lauderdale. The event is free. Call 9544142630.
