Think you know pizza? Here’s a good way to know for sure.
Beauty & the Feast Bar/Kitchen at The Atlantic Hotel & Spa in Fort Lauderdale on March 28 will introduce its Pizza Academy that will feature group, private and corporate team-building courses in the art of Neapolitan pie making.
Beauty & the Feast’s two-hour Pizza 101 classes will give guests an overview of the history and evolution of artisan pizza, a lesson on the art of hand-stretched dough and the correct techniques for building and topping a pizza. Guests will then have the opportunity to put their skills to the test by creating their own pie from scratch and finishing it off in Beauty & the Feast’s 900-degree wood-fire oven.
“What we’re hoping for is, not only local people coming in, but people coming down on vacation looking for something different,’’ said Steven D’Apuzzo of Society 8 Hospitality Group, which operates Beauty & the Feast. “It’s a nice night out where people can get some laughs, makes some friends and get a little education.’’
Guests can eat their pizza with a paired glass of wine or craft beer of their choice. They also will receive Beauty & the Feast recipe cards to recreate their favorite dishes at home. Beauty & the Feast’s Pizza 101 classes (www.society8.com) are available on select dates by reservation only at $69 per person. Group rates are also available.
“After the successful launch of the Pizza Academy at Mastino in Delray Beach (Fla.) we received an incredible amount of positive feedback from our guests, and thanks to popular demand we are very excited to bring our Pizza 101 classes to Beauty & the Feast,” D’Apuzzo said.
