Six bands will perform on two stages throughout the day treating crowds to a variety of classic rock, reggae, surf rock, funk, dance, country favorites, and more. Featured artists will include: Big Harvest (Reggae); Six Foot Swell Surf Band (Surf Rock); Shane Duncan (Country); Mr. Nice Guy (Classic Rock); Pocket Change (Funk/Dance); and Replay (Classic Rock).
At 4:45 p.m., get ready to turn back the clock as For Lauderdale welcomes rock legend Eddie Money for an exclusive Great American Beach Party engagement. The iconic artist burst onto the music scene in the late ’70s with a debut album that went double platinum featuring classics “Baby Hold On” and “Two Tickets to Paradise.” Money’s career includes a string of Top 40 hits and some of the era’s most memorable music videos for songs including “Think I’m in Love” and “Shakin.” In 1986, he released Can’t Hold Back, featuring the mega-hit “Take Me Home Tonight” which climbed to number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. Money’s signature blue-collar brand of rock ‘n’ roll has transcended generations and, today, he continues to delight audiences across the country with his unique style and high energy performances.
Award-winning LivingSand artist and sculptor John May returns to present the Great American Sand Sculpting Contest from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the beach from Poinsettia Street to Cortez Street. No experience is necessary to participate in this spirited, friendly competition that has become an annual favorite among families, children, neighborhoods, and businesses.
