This February, the City of Fort Lauderdale will play host to 32 of the world’s best male and female beach volleyball teams, including the heroes from this past summer’s Olympic Games in Rio. The last time the Swatch Beach Volleyball Major Series visited Fort Lauderdale was for the 2015 Swatch Beach Volleyball FIVB World Tour Finals, but this year the ‘Venice of America’ will kick off the Swatch Major Series and open up the 2017 FIVB World Tour.
The event, which will run February 7-12, will feature the most talented and well-known players in the sport. This will include the top U.S. men’s team of Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena, as well as the Olympic gold medal-winning international pairings of Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst (GER) and Bruno Schmidt and Alison Cerutti (BRA).
Fans who wish to attend the five-day tournament can expect an electric atmosphere as they watch the highest level of beach volleyball the world has to offer. Admission will once again be free for general spectators, but for those who wish to attend in style, there will be opportunities to purchase tailored VIP packages which offer premium seating close to the action and world-class cuisine, among other amenities.
