Bonnet House Releases 2018/19 Season

The Bonnet House Museum & Gardens’ 2018/2019 season is highlighted with a variety of exciting programs, events, workshops, tours and classes. This season is filled with art, music, holiday cheer, watercolor, calligraphy and drawing workshops; birding, orchid care classes as well as our annual Concerts Under the Stars series, Orchid Festival and VIP Upstairs-Downstairs Guided Tours. Holiday Magic at Bonnet House returns, a weeklong event with evening tours and live performances beginning November 30th. Become a member for only $65 and receive significant discounts on classes, workshops and special events as well as free admission to Bonnet House year-round.

Birding Classes, Individual Classes, Sunday, November 4, 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. (A Key to Better I.D.), Sunday, December 2, 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. (Birding by Habitat), Sunday, January 6, 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. (Ascend to Better Birding II), Sunday, February 3, 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. (Birding by Ear), Saturday, March 3, 2 p.m.- 5 p.m. (Birding By Season). Holiday Magic Soiree: Friday, November 30, 6:30 p.m.; Come celebrate our Holiday Magic Soiree at Bonnet House. Holiday Magic Winter Wonderland: Sunday, December 2, 5:30pm; Join us for a Wonderland of Live Entertainment, Story Time and Interactive Activities for families wanting to experience Bonnet House’s best holiday event, Holiday Magic. Kids 6 & under: Free, Students 7 – 12: $5, Adults: $15 Members, $20 Non-members.

Holiday Magic Evening Tours: Saturday, December 1 – Friday, December 7, 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.; Never has Bonnet House sparkled like this! All of the trees, wreaths and centerpieces throughout the house will be lit and designed to delight. Decide on your favorites as you enjoy a self-guided tour of the house during this rare nighttime opportunity. Something exciting every night; from strolling Victorian Carolers, to Steel Drums, to Santa and his elves, to Christmas story telling and much more. NEWLY ADDED CLASS 

Holiday Magic Holiday Arrangement Class: Thursday, December 6, 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.; Learn how to create your own holiday arrangement with Victoria Park Flowers. Class is limited to 30 and is $20 per person. Fee includes self-guided tour of the house from 5:30-7pm. RSVP Required. Register online only at www.bonnethouse.org.

Upstairs/Downstairs Tour – 2nd and 4th Wednesday, January – April, 2pm-4pm. Visitors will participate in a VIP experience of the upstairs and downstairs of the main house and take a sneak peek inside normally-closed areas of Evelyn and Frederic Bartlett’s private living quarters. Calligraphy Workshop – (2) five-week sessions-Tuesdays, 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Beginners Workshop: January 8 – February 5, Intermediate: February 12 – March 12. Watercolor Worskshop – (2) six-week sessions-Wednesdays, 9:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.; January 9 – February 13 or February 27 – April 3. Join fine artist and watercolorist Karen Eskesen in the historic Bonnet House courtyard. Acrylic Painting Workshop (2) six-week sessions-Thursdays, 9:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.; January 10 – February 14 or February 28 – April 4. Join Fine Artist Nia Nakis in the historic Bonnet House courtyard. Concerts Under the Stars, January 17, February 21, March 14 & April 4, 6:30 p.m.. The finest talent in South Florida will be performing at Bonnet House this winter. Concerts under the stars on the beautiful Bonnet House estate. The evening’s activities take place in and around the house with the concert taking place on the covered veranda beneath the moon and stars. Seating is provided. Making New Impressions, Juried Art Competition and Auction, March 7, 6 p.m. Join us in supporting the preservation of Bonnet House with art, music, cocktails and moonlight on the magnificent Bonnet House Estate. Basket Weaving, (2) 1-day workshops. Wednesday, January 30 and Saturday, March 2, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Florida Natural Basket – Create an artistic basket from natural materials found locally. The day will include an intro to basketry video and a walk on the property to identify the materials used. This class is an intro to local natural materials for all level weavers.
